Rhetorical Galleries
408 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, Arizona 85004
[nueBOX] and Rhetorical Galleries are teaming up for the 2nd annual evening of hot performances (literally) in the shipping containers on Roosevelt Row. Three Arizona choreographers will be transforming the shipping containers into a space for movement.

Transgression Process 1: Anger by Felix Cruz explores the need to transgress heteronormative forms and norms to create a counter hegemonic world. Based on socio-political platforms, this piece takes a look, at face value, at recent social and political climates and asks what this means to others. But mostly, this piece explores how heteronormative forms and hegemony breeds anger.

Felix El Cruz is a Phoenix based choreographer and Artistic Director of Cruz Control Collective. Through their work, Cruz is interested in physically dissecting the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality through a queer lens.

Grace Gallagher's work is athletically challenging, musically intricate, and dynamically polar. Her work is just relatable enough to appeal to non dancers and abstract enough to peek the interest of movement makers.

Grace Gallagher is a Phoenix based choreographer and educator dedicated to creating authentic work and sharing her knowledge of dance with others. She recently earned her MFA in Dance from Arizona State University and now teaches and sets work all over the country and is the artistic director of gracegallagherdance.

Installment 3:Instinctually Human(Excerpt) by Jordan Daniels is part of a research endeavor to reprogram common knowledge and stigmas associated with millennials and those that have felt victimized by agism in our artistic and professional structures. Vocabulary and academic study to this point has been generally rooted in a bias of the generational gap of those who have «made it» and those that «will never.»

Jordan Daniels is a professional dance artist from Phoenix, Arizona who graduated with his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree in performance dance from Southern Methodist University. He is company member for CONDER/dance, and holds faculty positions at The School of Ballet Arizona and The Arizona School for the Arts. He has set work on Instinct Dance Corps, Scottsdale Arizona Jazz Ensemble, Meadows Dance Ensemble(SMU), Verve Dance Company, Falcon Dance Company, and FullOutPerformance Dance.

In collaboration with Daniel Funkhouser, Nicole and Daniel will be creating a performance installation inspired by movable spaces and depth perception.

Nicole L Olson has been a choreographer and performer in Phoenix for the past 17 years. Her work has been presented both nationally and internationally, in such venues as The Kennedy Center, TBA Festival in Portland, and the Ruth Page Theatre in Chicago. In 2016, Nicole was rewarded with the Mayor's Arts Award for Dance (Cliff Keuter Award) and selected as «Best Dancer» for the Phoenix New Times' «Best Of Awards». In addition, she is the Director of Dance at Metropolitan Arts Institute and is Asst. Director for Scorpius Dance Theatre.
