One August 1, Alicia-Lyn Nacimiento Castro will teach a Brazilian Contemporary Modern class from 6-7pm.
This class is designed for provessional/pre-professional movers. Advanced movement experience is required.
Alicia's classes are physically challenging and incorporate the Horton, Dunham, Graham and other modern dance techniques along with Brazilian contemporary floor work and cultural influences). My classes begin standing and incorporates exercises that each focus on a different idea, such as descent/ascent and
laterals, center balance control, isolations, and heating up body parts such as quadriceps, the lower leg and/or abdominals, followed by stretching exercises for flexibility that leads into a sequence of floor work. Class then progresses across the floor with movement phrases, athletic sequences, turns and jumps and usually a section structured improvisation for students to explore their own artist voice. Ending with a combination and choreography.
