The most epic artist mixer of all time with over 120 artists will take place during Spark! After Dark on May 19 at Mesa Arts Center. JAMovement will be curating an evening of jamming out, meeting strangers, and collaborative art-making. The evening will pair movement-based artists with musicians, writers, and media artists to create create 60 second projects. Artists can register to work with someone they know, or be adventurous and sign up to work with someone new!

Some artists who register may also be eligible to receive a stipend to create an interactive activity, perform live music, participate in a freestyle jam, or perform for an extended period of time.

Who can apply: Movers, writers, performers, sound makers & rump shakers, filmmakers, media artists & visual artists

Restrictions: Due to time constraints during the event all audio must be pre-recorded, visual/media artists are only eligible to submit images or video of their work that will be projected in the space, and performances cannot use props that require set-up or clean-up.

Julie Akerly is an advocate for dance in the Metro-Phoenix area. In 2014 she began the Phoenix Dance Observe and co-founded [nueBOX], a residency program that supports local artists. She has experience curating interdisciplinary arts events and has worked on producing events such as Sizzle Series with Rhetorical Galleries, and other events with Trunk Space, Oh My Ears, and Four Chambers Press.
