THE 9TH ANNUAL IKEBANA EXHIBIT
Sponsored by the Sonoran Desert Sogetsu Study Group

The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix invites you to the 9th Annual Ikebana Exhibit, sponsored by The Sonoran Desert Sogetsu Study Group (SDSSG).
Ikebana is the art of Japanese flower arrangement. Sogetsu Ikebana is a contemporary Ikebana art style that encourages creativity and artistic expression using the natural beauty of flowers, leaves, and branches, and unexpected, unconventional materials.
The exhibition will feature traditional and unusual ikebana art displayed in eight whimsically named “galleries” along the path winding around lakes, past the waterfall, and across the bridge throughout the five-acre garden. Guests can stroll through the SCULPTURE GARDEN; enjoy tea while viewing HINA HANA, small florals displayed on a traditional doll stand and miniatures on trays; encounter PAINTED LADY designs; discover hanging designs in WHAT’S UP; explore arrangements with LOVELY LEAVES, A FEW FLOWERS, AND BUNCHES OF BRANCHES. One of the most amazing galleries is IMAGINE THAT!
The weekend offers many opportunities to further experience ikebana in the garden. Attend formal presentations by instructors Carol Brecker on Saturday, at 11 a.m. and Ping Wei at 11:00 on Sunday, Engage with artists at daily demonstrations, tours, making your own small ikebana, and visiting the ikebana information booth, Enjoy the chamber music concert with traditional Japanese music on Sunday at 2:00.
Experience the power of ikebana to relax, rejuvenate, and bring profound joy. Enjoy beautiful art creations at the Japanese garden in the middle of downtown Phoenix. Please see more information at japanesefriendshipgarden.org
