Join us at all O.H.S.O. Locations for the Yeastie Boys Beer Series- an educational experience. The beer series highlights how different yeasts change the flavor of beer. We brew one big batch of beer, divide the batch into 5 fermentation vessels, then add a different yeast into each vessel. This creates five different beers, yet all originating from the same wort. Each location will have tasting cards and educational materials to guide you through your tasting. The Yeastie Boys Beer flight cost is $5 for 5- 1oz. samples. Tapping at 11am and on tap until we run out.
Arcadia Yeasty Series base style is a Pale ale. Our base Pale ale recipe is brewed with 2-Row, caramel, and biscuit malts and Falconer's Flight hops.
American Pale Ale:
We used SafAle US-05 which produces well balanced beers with low diacetyl and a very clean, crisp end palate. This yeast will let the caramel and biscuit malts come through and let the Falconer's Flight hops shine which are known for their floral, citrus and tropical fruit aromas.
English Pale Ale:
We used Fermentis S-04 in this version which is know for its fast fermentation and ability to create a clean flavor with subtle fruity esters. This yeast will give this English Pale Ale a nice maltiness while still allowing the fruit aromas of the Falconer's Flight hops to come thru nicely.
We used SafAle BE-134 for this version which creates a beer that is thirst-quenchingly dry, with fruity esters of banana and hints of bubble gum with and a spicy bite — particuarly cloves.
Belgian Pale Ale:
We used SafAle BE-256 for this version which creates a classic Abbaye/Trappist style beer. This yeast will give the beer complex aromas and flavors that include peppery, dried fruits, banana, and
