The PHX Architecture Forum seeks to engage the public in an ongoing dialogue about architecture and design in the Phoenix area. We think of architecture as a constructed conversation between people, things, and time; and the Forum as a place where people interested in our built environment can meet and socialize.

James Trahan, AIA, was born in 1969 in Kaplan, Louisiana and upon graduating relocated from Baton Rouge to Phoenix, Arizona in 1993. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Louisiana State University and studied Architecture in Sienna, Italy. James is a licensed architect and holds residential and commercial general contracting licenses in Arizona. James is a past recipient of the AIA’s Young Architect Award, as well as past president of both the AIA Rio Salado Chapter and AIA Arizona. He is currently a board member of the Rio Salado Architecture Foundation and the Phoenix Art Museum’s Contemporary Forum. In 2001, James founded 180 degrees design + build and with his partners John Anderson, AIA, and Troy Vincent, AIA, have focused their practice on modern sustainable architecture.
